Halloween 2010

I think this may just be the blog post that will have Child Protective Services knocking down our door....

We were inspired by Pearl's unusual scootch/crawl technique to dress her up as a lobster this year for Halloween. Ken and I dressed up as chefs to go with our gourmet dish. She seemed to tolerate her costume, even contributing by stirring the pot, until our little lobster decided to jump ship and escape!

But luckily she's not quite so quick on her claws and I was able to catch up to her. We participated in her daycare parade on friday where all of the kiddos walked around the block showing off their costumes.

On saturday we went to the pumpkin farm near our house to pick out the perfect carving pumpkins.
Pearl spent quite some time contemplating which ones should come home with us. These are tough decisions that take some serious thought.

Before carving, She thoughtfully planned out her design....excited by the possibilities (good thing she hasn't figured out how to remove the cap from the Sharpie quite yet)

She's pretty excited here because she's settled on the perfect idea for her pumpkin...

Ken and Pearl scoop out the guts and Pearl makes 'pumpkin soup' while Ken picks out the seeds for roasting.
Apparently pumpkin rinds make excellent teethers...

Our finished pumpkin: a decomposing head revealing his 'skull' (pretty scary stuff...)

And Pearl's finished masterpiece: Pumpkin Pants...way better than diapers.
